SERIES HISTORY
In March 2007, entertainer Deante Young decided that he wanted to create an Internet talk show. He tossed around the idea to a few people on his staff, then decided to actually begin filming. He interviewed two girls at his cousin Brother Terisa's house while filming it in front of several people. Young's questions were heavily laced with racial epithets and were of a sexual nature, but the footage was never developed into the series he desired.

A year later, Young had an even stronger desire to produce and star in his own show and he set out to finally make it happen. He agonized over a title for his new show while insisting that the title contain his name in some way. Initially, he'd decided to use "Life with Deante" but decided that it was too close to an existing show on the Disney Channel called "Life with Derek." He soon settled on "a Date with Deante" because he felt that each interview he would conduct would essentially be a "date." Using the footage he'd filmed the previous year, he crafted the first episode and wrote, performed and produced the show's theme song "Screw Loose."

The show wasn't an immediate hit, although it established from the beginning the racy and obscene nature that would famously become its trademark. The first episode debuted on YouTube on April 18, 2008, but it was the series' third episode that made major headlines. A 27-year old woman named Susie appeared on the show and mentioned that she was 8 months pregnant. After admitting that she'd been with 200 different men sexually, she shocked viewers when she disclosed that she did crack cocaine to celebrate finding out she was pregnant.

In the 8th episode of Season 1, another monumental moment occurred, this time with a guy who came to be known as Catastrophic Chris. He got completely naked, then jumped off a porch into a tiny, kiddie swimming pool in the front yard of Young's estate. It remains one of the most iconic moments in the show's history.
